Heiress - Novo Amor & Lowswimmer

My first time listening to Welsh musician and sound artist Novo Amor’s album Heiress was refreshing and welcomed. The opening track, “Silvery,” starts with a piano sequence that quickly welcomes a powerful, yet soft trumpet melody, signaling the balance found throughout this album. Piano arpeggios set the pace on many songs, while brass accents and strummed guitars push the sound into indie folk and pop territory without ever feeling forced.

Novo Amor’s falsetto is clear and unadorned, and he layers it just enough to add warmth without drowning out the lyrics. The production favors natural dynamics, letting full arrangements swell and then fall back to near quiet in a way that never interrupts the mood. By the final track you’re left in a calm space.
